Dave Holt
Louisiana Blues
“Magazine Street” Dave spent the last 18 years playing Louisiana blues in New Orleans; gigging on every street corner, dive bar, and juke joint that lined the fabled winding six mile stretch of Magazine Street, from the French Quarter to the Audubon Zoo. Playing a mix of traditional blues and jazz on guitar, bass and piano, Dave was a staple of the NOLA music community; ready at a moment’s notice for a pop-up concert or a street corner gig, consistently booked for the city’s major music events including the iconic French Quarter Festival.
Dave was in a trio with the legendary New Orleans piano man Lawrence Cotton and had the chops to share the stage with guitarist Joe Cushionberry. Dave now live in Oriental, often seen jamming at the local music joints in town.
Dave Holt is a music man who is dedicated to the “three chords and the truth” philosophy of story-telling through song: powerful truths conveyed with raw emotion using simple, basic chords. Just give him a pig foot and a bottle of beer…
